Suvi-Pinx summer art exhibition, Sysmä
Between water and light – perspectives on contemporary art
13.6.-9.8.2026
Suvi-Pinx located in Sysmä is one of the oldest summer exhibitions in Finland. It started its operation at the turn of the 1970s and the summer exhibitions have continued ever since. The fine exhibition pavilion has been designed by architect Kosti Kuronen. Between water and light – perspectives on contemporary art presents domestic contemporary art in a versatile way: paintings, graphics, sculptures and installations. Extending in many directions, the exhibition opens and expresses to viewers in an interesting and thought-provoking way the diversity of contemporary art. The exhibition pavilion is located on the shore of Päijänne about 7 km from the centre of Sysmä creating an ideal environment for contemporary art. It is always possible to stop, look and find new approaches to art. In addition to the exhibition pavilion, works are on display in the surrounding buildings and in the café-restaurant. The curators of the exhibition are MA Raisa Laurila-Hakulinen and MA Merja Ilola.
The exhibition area with its buildings is nowadays owned by the municipality of Sysmä. Ilola Inn Oy from Sysmä has rented the premises for the use of the summer 2026 exhibition. The purpose is to revive the traditions and also connect Suvi-Pinx together with other summer events in Sysmä in cooperation with Sysmä Suvisoitto with a Gallery Concert on 29.6. at 13:00.
